I bought 4 of these woofers ten years ago from MCM and they still performing perfectly. I build a ported dual woofer system using a 3/2 D'Appolito geometry (MTM) Due to my limited knowledge at that time in crossover design I bought a two way second order crossover with 4 ohm low pass section crossing at 3K. Be very careful designing the enclosure for this woofer. Do your numbers with patience. I re-checked my calculations 3 times before I went further and start cutting wood. I first build a monocoque wood frame with 5 braces. Very strong and light. Then wrap it with 3/4" MDF material. Baffle is 2.5" thick. We ended with a 2.0 cu ft. enclosure after subtracting the drivers and braces displacement. A 4.75" long 2.80" diameter port yielded an F3 of about 35Hz. Anticipate 40 to 50 hours of break-in before these drivers start giving you a sweet and natural sound. After a few months of evaluation I decided to lower the crossover point to 2.5KHz. The sound improved 100%. Midrange was sweeter and more natural. Bass b
