Audio Amplifier w/Automatic Speaker Switch
The Model AB50-X2 is a compact stereo amplifier provides 50W x two channels and includes an automatic speaker selector circuit. This is especially useful if a distributed audio system exists, and a need arises to add a local line level source to only one local zone.
Typical Application
A residence exists which currently has a distributed audio system. In one room exists an installed pair of ceiling speakers. The homeowner would like for a television in that room to play through those speakers when on, but when the set is off, default to the distributed system.
Connect the televisions variable line level output to the line level input of the AB50-X2 amplifier. Connect the AB50-X2 between the ceiling speakers and their original amplifier source. Plug the AB50-X2 into the AC outlet, and plug the televisions AC cord into the AB50-X2’s current sensing output.
When the television is off, the amplifier will allow the normal sound source to play through. When the television is turned on, the AB50-X2 will sense the increased current draw, turn on and switch the ceiling speakers to its own output.
The entire operation is fully automatic.
