The only picture that correctly depicts the display is the default picture on this product page. All the others show a wide-screen display that would be 8.5" if it existed. The real display is 5.6" 4:3, per the description. An island surrounded by an expanse of black plastic, it gives the impression the display is smaller than it really is.
The vertical viewing angle is awful, as you'd expect from a cheap LCD display, but the horizontal viewing angle is surprisingly good. The display is actually pretty good when viewed straight on.
I have an application that uses a DVD recorder just for audio and I need something to display the recorder's menu. This display is fine for that use. It would also be great for setting up security cameras. It has stereo speakers that are tolerable and has both composite and s-video inputs.
